The Honourable

Sir,

P. H. May, C.M.G.,

Colonial Secretary.

As trustees of the Synagogue, and on behalf of

the Jewish Community, we have the honour to inform you that our pre-

sent Cemetery, is held under a lease dated the 11th. May, 1858, for

term of 999 years, and is registered in the Land Office as Inland Lot

No. 581 in the name of Reuben David Sassoon in trust for the Jewish

Community, as a burial ground.

This land is now too small for the requirements

of the Community and an extension thereto is urgently needed. We

therefore beg to submit herewith a plan showing our present Cemetery

and the further area which is considered necessary to meet the purpose with the request that you will be good enough to place the matter be- fore His Excellency the Governor, who we venture to hope will consent

to make a free grant of same.

We earnestly trust that His Excellency will be

so good as to give this application his favourable consideration for

which our Community will be very grateful.

We have etc..
